Sails - What cloth should we prefer ?
- Answers:
- Cloths provided with kits are generally too thick. The weft of the cloth is disproportionate with regard to the scale of the model.
- The more the tissue will be fine, the more it will give a good look to sails.
- In ancient times the sails were not white. They were dipped into a solution of tannin to resist to mold. Their colours varied from some brown-red to some chestnut-black.
- The range of colours of current cloths avoids exotic stains.
