  • Question:
    Rigging - What is the sequence of setting up the running rigging ?

  • Answers:

  • For each mast we start with the lower yard.
  • Set up the yard with its halyard (1).
  • Place the lifts (2).
  • Go on like this up to the upper yards.
  • Braces (3) are placed once all the yards of the model are attached.

  • For a mast with a spanker, the gaff, the mast hoops (1) and the driver boom are threaded on the mast before stepping it.
  • The throat halyard (2) is placed and turned on a mast cleat (3).
  • Then the peak halyard (4).
  • Finally, the horse (5) and the down-hauler of the boom.
