- Question:
Finishing - How to sand a hull ?
- Answers:
- We start by filling, with some wood putty, the differences of level between the strips (strakes) of the planking.
- Then, with sand paper no bigger than n°100 and a filler block (2), we level out the hull.
- Sand the strips (strakes) in diagonal.
- The concave curves (inward) are made equal with a blade of cutter (3).
- For a very clean sanding, a file (4) is used on some parts of the hull.
- After a last sanding with n° 220 (1) , the final touch is made with some steel wool 0000 (5).
